Our school focuses on creating the best environment for learning based on
the students’ academic education. To achieve this goal mentioned above, we
start at the International English village in Taoyuan county. Not only is the best environment created for learning
English, we also offer the flexible learning strategy to all the elementary
students within the county.
We hope to broaden the students’ global view and promote their English

It all begins from
Executive Yuan’s goal in 2002 「Challenge 2008: National
development plan」is about creating an international
living environment and increasing English proficiency of all; however, the
learning curve in English has remained unsatisfactory for years. Most of
English learning in
Taiwan
presently focuses
mainly on vocabulary, grammar, and reading, and students spend a cornucopia
of time studying them. They may have a good ability on reading but with
difficulty speaking out. Therefore, how to create an environment for
learning English and encourage students to start speaking English became a
crucial agenda.
In the recent years, South Korean government has aimed to improve their
people’s English abilities and even spent tons of money building up the
biggest English village in the world. From buildings to
transportations, they imitate the towns in
England
in every particular
detail. All the students who come to the town, of course, should only speak
English. Bureau of Education chooses Wunchang middle school as the location
of the middle school English Village, which may not be as
big as the one in
Korea
, but it will be the
first one in
Taiwan
.

In the recent years, the basic English education in Taiwan has begun at the elementary school level; therefore, bilingual schools or English Buxiban have become more popular than ever before. However, excluding public schools, not every family can afford a huge amount of money on additional English classes. So, they can only count on boring and reading-oriented classes in school, and that will reduce students' interest in learning English.
On the basis of "Give Kids Global Hope", Happy English Village not only provides students with an immersed language learning enviroment but develops students' confidence and interests in learning English. Most importantly, students can learn English by daily life experience.
